Why We Use Gait Analysis
South Coast Sports Podiatry utilises human gait analysis to measure objective biomechanical data that otherwise couldn’t be accurately observed with a naked eye. Since the establishment, we strived to deliver the best services to our patients, helping them get back on their feet as quickly and pain-free as possible. The aim of the gait analysis is to turn the results into data and use them to come up with the best treatment plan for each individual patient.
If you feel any discomfort that prevents you from functioning at your fullest capacity, turn to South Coast Sports Podiatry – we are experienced and certified professionals capable of determining whether gait analysis can help us pinpoint the exact root of the problem and enable us to plan the best recovery.
WHAT IS GAIT ANALYSIS
Human gait analysis is a comprehensive biomechanical analysis that relies on the state of the art hardware and software. Patients undergo gait analysis when we need to discover any abnormalities in their gait, no matter if the pressure that is being exerted on their foot is:
- Physical (internally rotating feet or collapsing arches) or
- Abnormal (displayed as kilograms per square centimetre!)
We usually propose gait analysis to patients who have trouble walking or running at their full capacity.
The study includes quantification of the data and their interpretation, that is, drawing conclusions based on the extracted data to determine the patient’s physical state, the potential for improvement, and the best recovery options.
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING GAIT ANALYSIS
Here at South Coast Sports Podiatry, digital gait analysis is conducted so that our experts can take a personalised approach to each patient and devise the most optimal recovery plan. While we address each patient with a custom solution created especially for them, we always follow the same process.
The session lasts approximately 45 minutes and consists of an in-depth chat. The goal is to find out as much as possible about your medical history, activity history, as well as any concerns you may have regarding exercise-induced pain or general pain in your hips, legs, knees or feet.
Once we have all the data at our fingertips, we will design the treatment that we believe will induce the recovery. We take our time to explain to each patient in great detail what they should expect from the process – we will introduce you to your new exercise and nutrition plan, medications, restrictions, and any other changes you will need to implement into your routine. We are at your disposal to answer any questions and clear up why we believe certain changes will benefit your recovery.
